As we ring in the new year, we are excited to celebrate 60 years of Camp Deer Run. All year, we will be celebrating God’s faithfulness and provision in allowing this mission to continue year after year for six decades. Over the years, Camp has changed quite a bit, from new groups to new cabins to a new mess hall. Despite these things, the heart of Camp Deer Run has never changed. Every summer, you can still hear kids singing “Hail to Deer Old Deer Run” under the thousands of names emblazoned in the rafters of the Rec Hall. You can still hear Hoches singing “Savior Breathe” under the same stars that lit the sky in 1958. You can still feel the presence of God in the refuge of these piney woods. So, in some ways, Deer Run has changed, but our God is the same today as he was 60 years ago, and so is our mission to serve Him.
We would love for you to join us for a day of celebration, fellowship, and worship at our 60th Anniversary Bash at Camp. There will be food, fun, and old friends as the Deer Run family gathers to recognize and rejoice together over God’s provision for Camp Deer Run for the past 60 years.
Feel free to come to Camp as early as you’d like, but the party will officially start at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 2nd, 2018 and wrap up around 8 p.m. Dinner, dessert, and refreshments will be free to all guests. There will be several exciting activities throughout the day, fun for adults and kids alike. There will even be a photo booth set up so you can take home your own keepsake from this special occasion.
We’ll end the evening with a devotional time with plenty of singing and a thought from Camp Director, Ty Ford. We want to worship together with the whole Deer Run Family and praise God for the work He has done and will continue to do through Camp Deer Run.
Register now to let us know you’re coming! Registration for this event is completely free, so don’t worry about the cost. Spread the word to your family, friends, and every Deer Runner you know! Everyone is invited, and we want to share this exciting milestone with as many people as possible.
For those that are traveling or need accommodations, cabins will be available to stay the night at camp on Friday, June 1.
We can’t wait to see you at Camp!
