There are some things in life simply can’t be expressed. The heat of a campfire on your face as you cook your hotdog surrounded by friends. The cool splash of Killi Creek when you land a perfect belly flop. The adrenaline of finally finding the other team’s flag deep in the woods. The deep sense of belonging while united in prayer with your cabin over all-night prayer. The conviction of seeing the silhouette of the cross in front of the bonfire at cross devo. The joy of knowing that cross was not the end of the story. Some things in life can’t be explained, the words just don’t do justice. Those things are meant to be experienced.
Camp Deer Run offers an experience that presents the gospel to kids in an unforgettable and unique way. It’s fun, it’s memorable, and it’s real. Camp Deer Run brings all of these things – hotdogs and the gospel, belly flops and prayer, capture the flag and the cross – together to create meaningful relationships, lasting memories, and a tangible experience of the gospel in action.
With the cancellation of more than half of our usual summer schedule, we are currently facing a serious financial need in order to continue providing the Deer Run experience in the years to come. Our priority at Camp Deer Run has always been to keep our summer camps as inexpensive as possible in order to make it as accessible as possible to people of all walks of life. By doing so, we rely heavily on God’s provision through our donors and supporters to make ends meet.
The unforeseen changes to our operating budget caused by COVID-19 prevention costs and cancellation costs have created a financial need well beyond our usual fundraising amount. However, we have seen God answer our prayers and provide in times of need time after time, and we believe that he will do so again.
If you feel called to be a part of God’s plan for provision in this difficult time, please consider making a donation to Camp Deer Run.
Every gift, no matter the size, will help us to keep the lights on and the gates open for years to come despite the setback we have faced this summer.
Thank you for being a part of this community, for your prayers, and for your support. May God bless the Deer Run family through these tenuous times. We think of you all often, and we pray for you always.
