Director of Development

Position Overview

To serve as a primary fundraiser for Camp Deer Run. The position is responsible for the design, implementation, evaluation and refinement of fundraising activities. The Director of Development is to provide leadership, direction, and training to co-workers and others in support of CDR’s development objectives to maximize total gift revenue through monthly giving, church relationships, EOY fundraising and other annual fundraising activities.

General Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Core Leadership Team to develop and implement fundraising strategies that align with our organization’s objectives.
  • Monitor and analyze fundraising data to evaluate performance of fundraising activities and adjust strategies as needed.
  • Make effective use of CDR’s donor management system and other resources to ensure appropriate management of donors and prospects in coordination with ministry objectives.
  • Coordinate day-to-day development strategies and activities to ensure they integrate into each ministry program and its processes.
  • Assist and/or lead in short- and long-range strategic planning activities to create and implement fundraising objectives.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices to ensure our fundraising program remains fresh, relevant and compliant.
 

Specific Duties

  • Develop and implement an annual fundraising plan to meet the organization’s annual revenue goals.  The annual plan includes:
    1. Monthly Donors (The Rafters Project)
    2. Major Donors
    3. Camperships
    4. Churches
    5. End of Year Fundraising
  • Develop and maintain relationships with Deer Run donors making visits to see them, organizing special events or seeking them out during camp activities.
  • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major gift donors and prospects including individuals, corporations, and/or foundations.
  • Work with the Communications Manager to develop and execute effective donor communications and marketing materials.
  • Work with the Director of Internal Operations to ensure the use of database best practices to optimize our usage of the Donor Management System.
  • Plan and execute special events that engage donors and raise funds for the organization.
  • Provide the Board with annual training and support for fundraising.

·       Passion for CDR’s mission and programs

·       Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business administration, or a related field.

·       Highly developed verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present effectively to small and large groups.

·       Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with teammates, Board Members, and volunteers.

·       A Self-starter who is flexible and willing to adjust as needed to accomplish goals.

·       Database management skills.

·       Ability to conduct research, gather data, analyze information, and prepare effective, accurate, and timely reports and other documents to support development objectives.

·       Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with prospects, donors, and/or volunteers in a wide range of roles.

OPPORTUNITY

Salary Range: $50,000 to $60,000

Start Date: September 1, 2024
